Entrepreneurship is a global trend that has been interrupted throughout the world by the economic crisis. But, does Spain follow this trend? According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), in 2015 , the entrepreneurial activity index in Spain was 5.7%, which is below the European one (7.8%).

One of the main factors that affect this index may be the lack of development
of qualities and skills relevant to an entrepreneur , such as passion, vision, achievement of objectives, ability to learn, creativity and innovation, persistence, self-esteem and work as a team . Young Spaniards are looking for ways to mature these types of skills, among others, to become successful entrepreneurs contributing to the development of their country and their own.

As the world’s largest youth organization, we ask ourselves how we can contribute to the development of the Global Development Goals while developing leadership among young people from all corners of the world. At AIESEC, we offer young people the opportunity to experience the world, because only when we begin to understand it can we begin to change it. And the way we envision achieving this is exactly by developing
responsible
and entrepreneurial leadership .

Global Entrepreneur as a connection between talent and economic growth

Global Entrepreneur was born as a solution to connect young talent with Startups, so that they can mature, grow and have an impact on the world. Due to the lack of alignment between educational systems and what the world is looking for, Startups find themselves in a situation of lack of collaborators with the appropriate skills and abilities to achieve their business objectives. The AIESEC program creates this union, giving young people the possibility to live an exchange experience in a Startup in another country.

The opportunity to develop your leadership skills

Through this AIESEC program, young Spaniards have the opportunity to work for 8 weeks in a multicultural environment in another country. Through this experience, participants will go through a process to understand and develop these qualities. These are the 4 skills that we want to develop in young people like you:

1) Become a self-aware leader and explore your passion by focusing on your skills rather than your strengths

By understanding your Key Performance Indicators and receiving regular feedback, you will broaden your personal and professional knowledge about yourself.

2) Take an interest in the world’s problems and take action to try to change them

You will have the opportunity to interact with local citizens in your workplace or in other situations, allowing you to understand their culture and business rules.

3) Be able to inspire others to reach a higher purpose

Interacting with other participants and employees, through collaborative spaces and learning to motivate others to achieve the vision and mission of the Startup.

4) Become a solution-oriented person who takes risks when necessary

Fulfilling a challenging job description in a foreign work environment, adapting to each situation and showing resilience to face challenges.

Immerse yourself in a Portuguese-speaking country

What if you could do an internship in one of the most entrepreneurial countries in Europe? And in the most entrepreneurial in the world? The same study, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, recognized Brazil in 2015 as the most entrepreneurial country in the world. At the same time, various experts and authors have recognized Portugal as the Saint Francis of Europe.

It couldn’t be simpler.
