PROJECT DETAILS
In this project, you will work with blind people, providing health attention and/or health promotion during 6-8 weeks in one of the biggest cities in South Brazil. Your contribution will help these people understand their bodies and amplifying their world vision. Roberto Miranda Institute for the Blind works with people from all age ranges that became blind for numerous reasons – from rare syndromes to accidents. The NGO aims to contribute with their accepting of the condition, empowering them to be as independent as they can be and reintegrating into society through educational social services such as dance class, arts, sports, mental health support, safe environment and teaching ethics and citizenship.
ROLES & RESPONSIBLITIES
As a volunteer, you will:
- Awareness (1st week): Research, analyze and put all your efforts to understand the patients’ situation and the NGO’s work and importance, as well as our context, in the city. ⟿ By the end of the week, the team should deliver a report of their analysis step.
- STEP 2 – Engagement (2nd week): Plan your actions and events, based in the NGO’s needs, based in the information you got during the first step. ⟿ By the end of the third week, the team should deliver a plan of action.
- STEP 3 – Action (3rd – 5th week): Put your plans into action, paying attention to everything, so that you can reflect about your experience.
- STEP 4 – Legacy (6th week): Make a report of all your plans and actions during the project. It would be great if you can leave something for the NGO, so that they improve their work. ⟿ The team should deliver a report of all their actions, as well as a message for the next group of interns.
- Engage in the Global Village event with the other volunteers and interns

- Transport: AIESEC will pick you up at the airport, but transport to work will not be provided
- Visa: Yes
- Housing and Food: Housing provided, but food will not be
